The structure of finance reinforces the misallocation of capital away from activities that could accelerate the sustainability transition, and the paper provides an overview of the dynamics of the financial system, the role of commodity trading and the exchange of natural resources, and what shifts have occurred since the 2007/2008 global financial crisis.
