Abstract:
This topical issue brings together recent advances in the analysis and control of complex systems operating far from thermodynamic equilibrium. The contributions cover key directions in contemporary non-linear science, including synchronization and control in coupled systems, complex oscillatory behavior and multistability, collective dynamics in networks, and emerging computational approaches, such as reservoir computing and memristive systems. Particular emphasis is placed on delayed and adaptive interactions, reduced descriptions of high-dimensional dynamics, and the use of non-linear systems as computational and modeling frameworks. Spanning applications from neuroscience and engineering to socio-economic systems, the collected works illustrate how non-linear dynamics continues to serve as a unifying and evolving framework for understanding, modeling, and controlling complex behavior in interacting systems.
