Abstract
Modeling is necessary to expand understanding of the current and future distribution and timing of the health risks associated with climate change. However, underinvestment in climate and health modeling has limited the understanding required to support policies for multi sectoral interventions to protect health. Challenges include limited data and understanding of best practices related to the collection, use, and sharing of weather, climate, health, and other data; limited insights into linkages between environmental and other determinants of health at local to global scales; limited use of standardized approaches to incorporating and parameterizing development pathways; inconsistent approaches to parameterizing intervention effectiveness and implementation; and limited investments in developing human capital and resource infrastructure, particularly for low- and middle-income countries.
