Abstract
There is scientific consensus that climate change will have significant impacts on the movement and immobility of people. Research on the linkages between climate change and human mobility has largely focused on how many migrants, where they will move from, and to. However, the question ‘why people move’ or conversely ‘why people stay’, even under seemingly similar conditions, is understudied. This dissertation investigates this question. Additionally, I further explore the impacts of migration on staying populations, and draw implications for adaptive capacity.
